Keyboard Tester
Check keys, combinations and browser keyboard events. It runs directly in your browser.

While testing, keyboard input stays in this panel. Press Escape to stop and return focus to the Start testing button.
Choose the physical layout yourself because browsers cannot reliably detect a keyboard's total key count. Keys not shown in the selected diagram still appear in the event details. Some system shortcuts, media keys and virtual keyboard events may not reach the browser.
Good for
Check common physical keys, simultaneous presses, modifiers and the key and code values reported by your browser.
Limits
Choose from 104, 87, 75%, 65%, 60%, ISO and JIS diagrams. Browsers cannot reliably detect a keyboard's total key count, and some shortcuts or special keys may not reach the page.
Check which keyboard presses reach your browser
Use the keyboard diagram to check individual keys and combinations on a laptop or external keyboard. The test shows browser input events, so it can help you investigate an unresponsive key without claiming to diagnose the hardware.
How to use
- Choose the diagram closest to your keyboard: full-size, tenkeyless, compact, ISO or JIS.
- Start the test, then press and release the keys you want to check. Hold a few keys together to inspect simultaneous presses.
- Compare the highlighted keys with the key and code values. Press Escape to finish and return to normal page navigation.
Common questions
Why does a key or shortcut not appear?
Your operating system or browser may intercept shortcuts, and Fn or other special keys may not produce a browser event. Make sure the test is active and the page has focus. An absent event alone does not prove that a key is broken.
Can I test keyboard ghosting or rollover?
You can check which simultaneous key presses reach this page. A missing key in a combination can help identify a limitation, but this browser test cannot certify an advertised rollover rating or distinguish every hardware, operating-system and browser cause.
Does the tool detect my keyboard model or layout?
No. Select the diagram manually. The browser exposes key events, not a reliable keyboard model or physical key count. Changing the diagram does not change your system keyboard layout.
